What are Lawn Care? And Why Do You Need It?

Lawn care in the DFW area requires a specific approach. The combination of clay soils, extreme summer heat, periodic drought conditions, and aggressive weed pressure creates challenges that generic lawn care programs aren’t designed to handle.
At FourCorner Landscaping, our lawn care service is built around the realities of North Texas. We use the right fertilizers at the right times, aerate when it actually benefits the turf, and apply treatments calibrated to The Colony’s specific conditions, not a national one-size-fits-all template.
Whether you need consistent weekly maintenance or a targeted intervention to rescue a struggling lawn, our crew handles it with the expertise and reliability that comes from years of working in this climate.

Why FourCorner Landscaping?

Consistent Results on Every Visit

Our lawn care visits follow a defined checklist for each property. Mow height, edging technique, and treatment schedule are documented and followed every time, so your lawn gets the same standard of care on visit 50 as it did on visit one.

DFW Climate Knowledge Built In

We adjust mowing heights seasonally, time fertilizer applications to the actual growth cycle of your grass type, and aerate when soil compaction is the limiting factor, not when it’s convenient for us.

We Spot Problems Early

A trained eye on your lawn every week notices disease outbreaks, pest activity, irrigation failures, and drainage issues before they become expensive. We flag these during routine visits so you can address them proactively.

Flexible Programs That Fit Your Budget

Whether you need full-service weekly care or seasonal maintenance visits, we build a program that reflects what your lawn actually needs and what you want to spend. No upselling, no services added without your approval.

Our Step-by-Step Lawn Care Process

What separates professional lawn care from a rushed one is preparation. Here’s exactly what we do.

Initial Lawn Assessment

We walk your lawn, identify your grass type, assess soil and drainage conditions, note any existing weed, pest, or disease pressure, and develop a care program specific to your property.

Mowing

Lawn is mowed at the correct height for your grass type. Bermuda typically at 1–1.5 inches, St. Augustine at 2.5–3.5 inches. Mowing height is adjusted seasonally. Blades are sharp to produce a clean cut that doesn’t stress the grass.

Edging and Trimming

All lawn borders, against hard surfaces, beds, driveways, and walkways, are edged cleanly with a stick edger or half-moon edger. String trimmer is used around obstacles and in areas the mower can’t reach.

Fertilization (Scheduled)

Fertilizer applications are timed to the DFW lawn calendar: pre-emergent weed control in early spring and fall; balanced fertilizer in spring and late summer; potassium application in fall for winter hardening.

Clean-Up and Final Check

All clippings are blown from hard surfaces and bed areas. A final walk of the property checks for anything missed. We don’t leave until the lawn looks properly finished.

Common Questions About lawn care

Have a question we haven’t answered? Call us at (469) 464-8115 and we’ll give you a straight answer.

During the active growing season (April–September), most DFW lawns benefit from weekly mowing. During spring and fall shoulder seasons, bi-weekly is typically sufficient. We recommend the right cadence based on your grass type and growth rate.

Most DFW turf grasses benefit from a 3–4 application fertilizer program: pre-emergent + starter fertilizer in February, nitrogen-based application in May, a balanced feed in August, and a potassium-focused winterizer in November. We adjust this based on your specific grass type and soil test results.

Bermuda is a warm-season grass that goes dormant in winter and loses its green color, this is completely normal. For year-round color, some homeowners choose to overseed with cool-season ryegrass in fall. We can advise on whether this makes sense for your lawn.

In most cases, yes. Severely thinned, patchy, or compacted lawns typically need a renovation program. Aeration, overseeding or sod replacement in bare areas, fertilization, and sometimes a weed suppression phase before new growth can establish. We assess the condition honestly and tell you what’s realistic.

Yes. We can provide a fertilization, weed control, and aeration program as a standalone service for homeowners who handle their own mowing. We schedule treatments on the correct calendar for your grass type and notify you before each application.
